Apple Pulling a Fast One

I’m onto your game now Steve Jobs. You build somewhat reliable hardware and back it up with customer service. But the device dies a horrible slow Trinity-Neo death right after the warranty expires. Luckily, (for you) that’s just in time for the new improved hardware released that makes us want to sink another $2000 into your pockets. I hope you like the 2 years of subsidies I’m paying you through the nose with AT&T.

My Applecare ran out a few weeks ago and as expected my blackbook stopped working with Mary using it. Just like her white Macbook. I tested the HDDs. Docked it into a Thermaltake Black Widow BlacX docking station and it wouldn’t mount. Picked up a new Seagate 320GB and the blackbook is back up. So I think new HDDs for all Macbooks, including her Mary’s dad. Apparently Apple has shipped a batch of bad HDDs from Seagate with FW 7.01. Apple is at fault, and Patti and Mary are off the hook.

Why is there not a recall on this?

Our Trip to Pennsylvania

I have no idea why we tagged along with Mary’s parents to Pennsylvania knowing that Jagger isn’t old enough to participate in any of the fun stuff, but at least we were out of the house and in the good sun.

Sad Week in Hollywood

They say things happens in threes and it couldn’t be even more true this week. On Tuesday it was Ed McMahon, today it was two others: Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson. Three legends that will live on in people’s hearts forever.

Ed McMahon hosted Star Search and some great talents came from there. I loved Star Search, I actually like it better than American Idol. Why did they ever get rid of that show? From then on, I really didn’t follow what he did afterwards. But I never really heard anything bad about him. He seemed like a like-able person. Plus, we shared the same birthday.

Farrah Fawcett was a gorgeous woman. Like Ed, I didn’t follow much of her work. There was Charlie’s Angels and a few others. Charlie’s Angels and her relationship with Ryan O’Neal is what all I really know about her. I know she has done some great work and that she was all the boys dream girl. I think a lot of boys had her famous poster. I also know that her family and friends love her very much. I am watching Barbara Walters interview with her loved ones right now and it has me crying. You can just see the love that they have for her.

From the news of those deaths comes another blow, the death of Michael Jackson. Michael will forever be the King of Pop. I don’t think there will be any other like him. I grew up listening and dancing to his music like most people. My cousins and I did a dance to Thriller. We were suppose to do the dance and a department store, Shoe Mart, where one my aunts worked. I can’t recall if we ended up doing it or not, but learning that dance was one of my best memories of my childhood. Michael’s death will be one of those events that people will ask years from now, “Where were you when you heard that Michael Jackson died?” My answer: “In the living room with Jagger, watching the news.” Michael has had some problems these past few years, but it doesn’t take away what he has done for the music world.

The rest of the world is crying with you Hollywood.

My Uniquely Odd Approach

I’ve been hitting up Craiglist for new projects. I’ve veered away from submitting formal intro emails and have tried to respond uniquely. One company wanted somebody with a sense of humor, so I responded with this email:

A construction worker on the 4th floor of an unfinished building was too lazy to get a handsaw on the ground level. So he whistled down to a fellow worker on the ground to get it for him. Being 4 levels up, the lazy construction worker couldn’t be heard, so he started making signals.

First he pointed to his eyes (meaning “I”). Then pointed to his knees (meaning “need”) and then began moving his hand back and forth mimicking the motions of a hand saw.

Finally the guy on the ground starting nodding his head as if he understood and dropped his pants and started to masturbate. The guy on the 4th floor turned beet red and ran down to yell at his fellow worker, “You idiot! I was trying to tell you I needed a hand saw”.

The other guy replied, “I know, I was trying to tell you I was coming.”
