Peter Thomas Senese: A Best-Selling Author & A Hero

15 August, 2012 | Posted by Mary
Best-selling international geopolitical thriller author Peter Thomas Senese eight years ago never imagined he would become one of the nation’s leading international parental child abduction prevention advocates, and that he would be directly responsible for bringing home numerous internationally kidnapped children while also preventing a significantly larger number of cross-border abductions from occurring. However, that is exactly what Mr. Senese has done: he has helped rescue children of abduction from as far and as volatile places such as the Ivory Coast and Nigeria, while also stopping American and Canadian child abductions to countries notorious for never returning abducted children: Japan, Brazil, and Saudi Arabia to name just a few nations. By every sworn testimonial of numerous parents, Peter Thomas Senese is a hero who has created a large number of miracles when it counted most: their children. How big of a problem exists today? Consider this: recent studies estimate that as many as 125,000 American children, 20,000 Canadian children, and a total of 200,000 defenseless children living in North America may be internationally criminally abducted by one parent from another in contradiction to court orders over the next decade. Alarmingly, it is estimated that only 10% of these children will ever come home. Obviously, the number of targeted children intended to be stolen is much higher. Surely, someone in your circle of friends or extended family may be a target of this horrible act. And your knowledge can make the difference between having a child taken – gone forever – or not. If you don’t think this can happen to you, you may be making a big mistake. The fact is the vast majority of targeted parents do not realize they and their children are being targeted for abduction. How did it all begin? Mr. Senese was forced to race into the storms of international parental child abduction as poignantly shared in his deeply inspired, highly acclaimed legal thriller ‘Chasing The Cyclone’ critics everywhere are calling a ‘Masterpiece’ and a ‘Call-To-Arms Against Child Abduction.’ How dedicated is the best-selling high-octane thriller writer to making a stand against child abduction? Peter Thomas Senese not only has donated 100% of sales from ‘Chasing The Cyclone’ to help other parents, but the formidable, and highly respected International Child Abduction Research & Enlightenment Foundation’ (the ‘I CARE Foundation’) Mr. Senese is the Founding Director of is a self-funded not-for-profit organization that does not accept outside financial contributions. So what has the I CARE Foundation accomplished? Well, to begin, through a large and ever-growing national network of attorneys, investigators, child psychologist, and child advocates, the I CARE Foundation has brought home a rather large number of internationally kidnapped children stolen to countries that are members of the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspect of International Child Abduction, and to countries that are not a signatory of any international treaty on child abduction. If you think this is impressive, I suggest you read some to the sworn testimonials about Mr. Senese, the I CARE Foundation written by those the best-selling writer works too hard to help. Here are a few commentaries from the linked sworn testimonial pages concerning the exemplary service of Peter Thomas Senese (for full viewing and to read other testimonials please click here): EP, whose child was abducted to the Ivory Coast eight years ago spoke of the miracle Peter Thomas Senese created, “On January 16th, 2012, I received a telephone call from Peter Thomas Senese. He said to me that my son was on an airplane 30,000 feet high over Africa and on his way home to the United States . As for Peter Thomas Senese, what can I say about this incredible man who led the efforts on all fronts to rescue my son? He asked for nothing other than for me to help others one day when my child was home, he provided financial support, emotional support, and all the necessary legal support required. I will be forever grateful to Peter Thomas Senese and the I CARE Foundation for the selfless acts and considerable kindness.” TD, whose child was abducted to Nigeria added of the miracle Peter Thomas Senese also created, “On March 22nd, 2012 my toddler son was kidnapped from Colorado to Nigeria. All appeared hopeless. Nigeria is not a member of nay foreign treaty, there was very little the U.S. government could do to help me in Nigeria. Very few children have ever been returned to America from Africa. I eventually contacted Peter Thomas Senese, as he is well-respected in the area of IPCA, who told me, “You need to be patient, but we will get your son home.” His words were simply not words. On June 11th, 2012 at approximately 10:15 p.m. while standing inside the Denver International Airport, I held my son in my arms! My son was back home, in America, just like Mr. Senese said he would be. Peter Thomas Senese has given so much to my family. God Bless you Peter for all you have done for me and my family.” AB said, “Chasing The Cyclone and Peter Thomas Senese have assisted me and my family significantly in protecting my daughters from being parentally abducted to Saudi Arabia, where women like myself have no rights. If my children were abducted there, I would never see them again. Today, I sleep a little better due to the incredible efforts of Peter Thomas Senese. Knowing Mr. Senese has helped ensure my children’s safety and has helped protect us from Chasing The Cyclone of international child abduction. Along the way, he has never asked for anything.” MR said, “Unequivocally, Peter Thomas Senese is a tremendous person of great honor and integrity, he acts selflessly on behalf of children all across the globe, he is honest, sincere, unbowed, and willing to stand up against those that act against others. My abducted child is coming home, finally after all these years, in no small way because of the great assistance I received from Peter Thomas Senese.” TP, a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy (reserve) and a mother said, “Mr. Senese has assisted me during legal proceedings I have initiated in order to prevent my at-risk daughter from being abducted to Brazil . . . Chasing The Cyclone as a matter-of-fact guide as to the risk factors that may indicate an abduction and legal steps to take in order to prevent this from happening. Mr. Senese’s work and network continue to protect my daughter and other targeted children.” Mr. Senese’s work in helping other parents is keenly expressed by attorney Patricia M. Lee, who is consider to be one of the world’s most skilled international family law attorneys, and who is a Senior Mentor of the United States Department of State’s ‘Hague Convention Attorney Network’ and is a fellow Board of Director member of the I CARE Foundation, when she said in a recent press release, “I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Senese first, not as an acclaimed fiction writer, but as a dedicated child advocate helping victimized parents work through the morass of financial, legal and practical issues in their attempts to reunify with their children. To tell you the truth, I first contacted Mr. Senese while doing research for a left behind parent, without even being aware of his other publications. Since then, Mr. Senese’s resource guide for child abduction victims has been wealth of information that I keep on my desktop. When I learned of Mr. Senese’s personal experience and trauma which inspired “Chasing the Cyclone,” I was shocked, and simply sat down and cried. Now I understand first hand why he is so committed to helping others victimized by child abduction, and works every day to help other victims. I am humbled by his fierce dedication, and am looking forward to his continued support, and the donation of his funds, time and talents to the I CARE Foundation.” New York attorney Joel S. Walterc, who is also a board member of the I CARE Foundation, a member of the United States Department of State’s Attorney Network who has been practicing highly primarily highly complex federal law cases for over 40 years said this of Peter Thomas Senese, “I have been good friends with Peter Thomas Senese for twenty years. In fact, I was the first person he turned to when his child was internationally abducted. Mr. Senese has always been highly successful in his business ventures; however, it has been very satisfying to watch him as in many ways he has become a beacon of hope for so many other parents. The man simply gives unconditionally of himself, never asks for anything, and has a significant impact for the better on those he seeks to help. What Peter Thomas Senese has done for a very large number of parents who have had their children internationally abducted is given them the greatest of miracles: he has reunited these parents with their stolen children. And I know of this first hand as in many of these scenarios in my capacity as a board of director of the I CARE Foundation and as an attorney, I was there.” In a time when children from all over the world are being abducted and too often not returned to their home of original jurisdiction, the nightmare of abduction and it’s malicious tentacles continues to reach for our most precious assets: our children. Yet, there is a man who is standing in the way of that monster. His name is Peter Thomas Senese. He is one of the world’s most published authors on the subject of international parental child abduction, the formidable I CARE Foundation he founded is considered a global leader in the area of child abduction prevention, and most of all, he and his colleagues have rescued numerous children while stopping the abduction of many, many other children. And unquestionably, these acts are the acts of an unselfish man. A hero too many. As for Mr. Senese’s ‘Chasing The Cyclone’ the highly influential New York Journal of Books said "Chasing The Cyclone is a well-written thriller . . . Senese shares myriad emotions by writing in the first-person as he weaves through the action in this suspense-filled story . . . This novel might also be considered a treatise on international child abduction. Cyclone, while full of actual strategies and resources to assist parents in international abductions, is above all else a love story about a father and son ... From Los Angeles, to Canada, to New Zealand, and eventually, Macau, a special administrative region of China, Cyclone is rife with international intrigue and suspense. The protagonist, Paul Francesco, orchestrates a master plan that he hopes will reunite him with the love of his life - his son. Along the way he finds himself swamped in red tape and drenched in frustration. Filled with a plethora of powerful characters and puzzling predicaments and dead ends, the story moves quickly . . . Cyclone will leave you informed and satisfied . . . you will be reluctant to put down." The renowned Guilty Pleasures Book Review, known as one of the nation's top book critic book review sites by women for women said, "If I had to use one word to describe Chasing the Cyclone by Peter Thomas Senese it would be phenomenal. As in remarkable. Extraordinary. I have read many books over the years, for enjoyment, for education, because I had to, because I wanted to. I cannot think of any other book that comes close to making me feel as I did when I read this book. I believe these feelings will stick with me forever. This story, inspired by horrific events, is about the love between a father and a son. And that love is beautiful . . . Mr. Senese's is evidenced by a large number of sworn testimonials by many thankful parents who Mr. Senese has directly helped in either reuniting with their own child or preventing their child from being internationally abducted. Establishing the I CARE Foundation and being closely involved in the rescue attempts of abducted children is but one of the many impactful acts of Mr. Senese. Clearly, 'involved' for Mr. Senese means financially, emotionally, legally, and investigative support. His selflessness is inspiring. He is hope." What has been most satisfying is to know that Chasing The Cyclone has had a significant impact on the lives of many other parents. Here is but a very small sample of statements sent to the I CARE Foundation about Chasing The Cyclone . . . yes, we have created a few miracles. In a time where we all too often hear about the difficulties and hardships of life, it is nice to share a story about how a person such as Mr. Senese, who had to unknowingly race into his own nightmare associated with his child’s abduction, and in the end has become a beacon of hope for so many parents across the globe by example and act. As a mother who had their child targeted for international abduction I would like to thank you for sharing light on the subject in your wonderful web blog. It is sad but true most parents do not understand the growing reality of parental kidnappings or the difficulty incurred to attempt to recover a child, or the high unlikelyhood that a recovery will occur. Raising awareness is so key. THANK YOU!

As for Peter Thomas Senese, I love him! I love that he help protect my daughter who was targeted. And I know without his help, I would have been clueless on what to do and how to do it. And I love the fact the I CARE Foundation Peter is a part of provided me all the legal help needed. Thank you for acknowledging Peter’s incredible work. You are right: he is a hero to many of us.

I wanted to write and share our deep sense of appreciation for the wonderufl article you posted regarding I CARE Foundation founding director Peter Thomas Senese. Mr. Senese’s work in and out of the foundation when it comes to children is leadership by tremedous example. His dedication to children in particular is nothing short of heroic. The I CARE Foundation and its members have been directly responsible for a very large number of child abduction recoveries. Though some of these rescues and reunifications are made public to a small degree, the vast number of international child kidnapping recoveries are not spoken of, and will remain that way. Nevertheless, they do exist.

Mr. Senese’s dedication to making a difference on behalf of children is mirrored by his acts that lead to such recoveries. There are times when we fully expect for him to fly faster than a speeding train. To scale buildings with a single jump. And to stop a moving projectile with his bare hands. And though we don’t know where he keeps his Super Hero cape, we know he has one.

Mary, as a board member of the I CARE Foundation I wanted to take a few moments and thank you for your wonderful and correct article about Peter Thomas Senese and the incredible work he has done to help families of abduction. As a board member of the I CARE Foundation and as an acting attorney on numerous cases the foundation is involved with, I see first-hand the hard work and dedication of Peter. The fact that he provides incredible resources to assist in the fight against abduction says a great deal. When Peter’s child was abducted under the rules of the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, I was the first person he turned to. Years, later the work he has done to help others in incredible. And through it all, the only thing he does is give of himself. In my eyes, and in the eyes of many parents and their children that the I CARE Foundation has either helped bring home or prevented from abduction, he is in fact a hero. And a hero to many.

Thank you Mary for lending your voice in the fight against child abduction. It is that important (and please friend request me on FB).
