Our mattress was on it’s last leg — The middle was sagging, the springs were creaking, and the pillow top was ripping. With a baby on the way, Mary had wanted a Tempur-Pedic bed. So off to Sleepy’s we went to test out different models and get prices.

Finding What Suits Us

We tested out every model from the Grand Bed to the Original Bed. No need to go into the differences as it can be read on Tempur-Pedic. We eventually settle on the Deluxe Bed for several reasons.

It was in our price range. Keep in mind that pricing has been fixed by Tempur-Pedic. So no matter where you go, the prices will be the same at all authorized distributors.

It was considered the middle ground between the low and high end models.

The support was consistent with what we were looking for.

Freebies

We were also given two free neck pillows with our purchase, a $50-$70 value for each pillow. These pillows are specifically designed to keep your neck aligned for side/back sleepers. It takes some getting used to with these pillows. Mary stopped using hers the first week. Now she’s exclusively on the Snoogle.

Sleepy’s also threw in a waterproof mattress cover. Supposedly, Tempur-Pedic is like a big sponge and getting it wet isn’t a good idea. I was never really sure if this was a sales pitch or not, but I was getting it for free so…

no matter where you go, the prices will be the same at all authorized distributors

Taking Delivery

After our purchase, Sleepy’s delivered the bed the next day. Let’s me tell you, the mattress is surprisingly heavy. It took us some amount of time getting it to the room. After unwrapping the plastic covering, the smell of the bed hit me. Did some research and apparently this is the off gassing caused by the polyurethane in the manufacturing process. Tempur-Pedic claims that this odor is safe, but we didn’t want to take any chances. We slept in another room for for a few weeks while the odor dissipated.

Conclusion

We’ve been sleeping on the memory foam based bed for almost 3 months now, and honestly it’s the best bed I’ve slept in. I can sleep in positions where if I did the same on a spring bed I would wake up with a slightly stiff back.

I’ve noticed on cold nights, the bed is a little firmer. But once my body heat transfers to the foam, it becomes much more accommodating.

So far the bed has ben a worthy investment. I have read that the bed can begin to lose it’s shape after a few years, so I’ll have to keep an eye on it.

UPDATE: I have been getting questions about the Snoogle and off-gassing. The pillow is 65% polyester and 35% cotton. I haven’t noticed any chemical smells from the pillow.
As Marvyn posted before, I received the Snoogle yesterday. I was so happy and relieved to see it when I got home last night that I could not wait to go to bed. Let me tell you, the pillow cost about $53 and it was very worth it! For the past few days I have been having trouble sleeping because I was not comfortable. Last night was the first time I had a good night sleep in days! I positioned the opening facing the left side and also positioned myself that way. The end of the pillow came up to my stomach and supported it. The whole complete side of the pillow supported my back and prevented me from lying on my back. It also relieved the discomfort I have been having on my back. It is also just as comfortable if you turn over to your right side.

I wish I could say it would keep me from waking up in the middle of the night but unfortunately, we pregnant women can’t control our bladders! I can say though that being it is so comfortable it makes you not want to get out of bed. So far I give this product 5 stars.

Now all I need next is a back pillow for my chair at work. Someone lent me theirs but it just wasn’t comfortable because it felt smaller and the ends hit my back and made it hurt more. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks!

If any of you have had your pet in a plastic cone for an extended period of time, then you’re well aware of how incredibly sharp the edges become after a few walks outside. A couple of brush ups on your leg will leave your shouting at your beloved pet. No more of that — I introduce to you the Comfy Cone from All Four Paws.

The cone seals via 3 velcro strips, which is much easier than the tab design of the plastic cones. It also has loops to secure the cone around your pet’s neck with his/her collar. Although I don’t really use it as you can comfortably wrap the cone around without worry of it coming off.

The front end of the cone is soft and has a reflective trim for those night walks. The trim wears easily especially when constantly rubbed against concrete/asphalt. But that’s a minor issue.

Because of the soft material, it tends to smell after a while if your pet salivates a lot. I try to clean it everyday, but for you lazy people…sorry.

Pros

Offered in various sizes from 12.5 CM to 30 CM. As reference, my cocker spaniel wears a 20 CM cone.

Reasonably affordable from $12-$25.

No annoying plastic cone hitting your leg.

Can flap top cone back to allow your pet to eat/drink.

Cons

Reflective lining wears easily.

Will smell if not cleaned regularly.

Sound of velcro tearing apart may frighten some dogs.
